SENIOR KINDERGARTEN students ONLY!

Senior Kindergarten students will begin the transition into the regular afternoon "Recess time" this month. We find this small step helps make the transition to Grade One and into the big yard with bigger students run more smoothly.

Recess is between 1:25 and 1:40 pm each day.

We want parents to be aware that (as always) they may go outside even if there is a light rain, so please always have your child dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

Naturally, we encourage the use of sunscreen, hats and running shoes.  If children wear summer sandals, please ensure that they have a back-strap to keep them on while running or climbing.

For safety reasons, children should
NOT WEAR beach flip-flops,
due to numerous injuries we have witnessed with this type of sandal.

TOYS:
In regards to toys that may be brought to school; we encourage toys that are explicitly meant for fun and fitness outside!  (NOT inside) Appropriate toys should get your child MOVING - running, skipping, building large and small muscles, as well as enhancing their coordination, and balance skills. Good examples would be a wide variety of balls, a frisbee, or skipping ropes. [All outdoor toys (ie. balls) should be labeled.]

Please do not permit your child to bring toys that limit movement or encourage sitting, such as a book, a DS, Pokemon cards, or stuffed animals.

*Remember too that this is a time to socialize with friends and practice those "conflict resolution" skills.*
