KINDLY REQUESTING PLAYDOUGH.

Dear Parents,

We will be having a playdough activity table set up on Thursday, May 29th and we would greatly appreciate any donations of playdough for this purpose.  Please send in a batch as soon as possible if you are able to squeeze it into your busy schedule.

Thank you so much for any assistance in this regard.

Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Team

JKs - May 29th FIELD TRIP to the FARM!

On Thursday, May 29th the Junior Kindergarten classes will be visiting the Farm – also known as the Museum of Agriculture located on Experimental Farm Drive.

This special event not only expands and enriches our animal discussions but also provides a firsthand experience of Spring and new life on a farm.

We will depart from the school at

8:45 a.m. and return by 10:50 a.m.

The cost for this excursion, including student admission and busing fees, will be provided by the Activity Fee fund.

Due to time constraints, we will not be eating a snack; therefore, please leave school bags at home

Please note that our excursion will occur regardless of the weather conditions since most of the tour takes place inside the barns. Please have your child dressed appropriately for farm conditions.

We are seeking lots of volunteers for this special trip and hope that many parents will be able to assist us. We may be able to accommodate most (or all) parents on the bus - depending on the number of volunteers and the space available.  If you are unable* to or do not wish to travel with us, then we ask our volunteers to drive to the farm to meet the bus in the main parking lot (off of Prince of Wales Dr.) at 9:00 am.

All volunteers will be supervising small groups; therefore, we ask that you not bring younger siblings. We ask that your child travel to the farm by bus with their classmates as this is a large part of the excitement of the “field trip” experience.

Volunteers are required to pay a $1.00 admission fee (normally $9) – so please send it in as soon as possible to get this deal.

Please return the permission slip prior to Friday, May 16th

          All volunteers are welcome!

Mme. Blahout's SHARING TIME = SHOW and TELL is cancelled.

I have implemented a "Sharing Time" for over 2 weeks now in the hopes that it would further develop and enrich oral language skills. This is not happening

Unfortunately, it has turned into a toy competition, which is what I had feared. In fact, items that have been brought to school have become a constant distraction during structured learning times and a source of conflict during play times.

I am now asking all parents to PLEASE ensure their child does NOT bring toys* (*including Pokemon cards, sticker books, etc.) to school.  This has always been the rule but when 'Sharing Time' was announced it seemed to open the flood-gates for toys.

When the afternoon students in SENIOR Kindergarten join the regular school-wide outdoor recess in June, then they may bring appropriate outdoor toys. This means toys such as balls, skipping ropes, which are only for this purpose.

Thank you for your help and consideration in this regard.
