RECESS TIME for afternoon classes!

Today was our first recess in the school yard with the big kids!

All AFTERNOON students will be going out for recess every day from now on to prepare the SENIOR Kindergarten children for this Grade One daily routine.

Recess is 15 minutes of fresh air and exercise from 1:25 to 1:40 pm.

Please be sure to send a hat and apply sunscreen to your child at home.

Please keep in mind that this should be a very physical break, and it is a key socialization component   of their day.  We also recommend that you offer some guidance in regards to your child's choices of toys for recess.  We suggest items that naturally promote gross motor skill development, like skipping ropes, different sizes of balls, or even sidewalk chalk.  We have found that a variety of problems and social conflicts frequently arise with items such as small electronic games, collector cards, and other miscellaneous collectible toys, so please discourage these. We want the children to really move around the yard, playing and interacting with their friends, running, jumping, stretching and working their muscles!
*Please ensure that toys are labelled with a name. Also, please warn your little one that there is always a risk of toys being lost, broken, and unfortunately, sometimes even stolen.
